Swimwear Care

Thank you for supporting the Chéri House vision. We hope you enjoy wearing your Sandra Monokini as much as we enjoy designing and producing it.

Chéri House swimwear is crafted to be long lasting and resilient when cared for properly. Follow the guidelines below to maintain the longevity of your piece. We look forward to seeing you in it year after year.

Washing

Hand wash immediately after each wear to remove pool chemicals, salt, and sand.

  1. Rinse the swimsuit thoroughly in cold water
  2. Dilute a small amount of mild detergent (we recommend The Laundress) into cold water and mix until soapy
  3. Submerge the swimwear and gently work the fabric until clean
  4. Rinse thoroughly in cold water until all detergent is removed

If a washing machine is necessary, place the swimsuit in a mesh garment bag to protect against stretching and shield the hardware from tumbling. Use a cold, delicate cycle only.

Drying

  1. After washing, lay the swimsuit flat on a dry towel away from direct sunlight
  2. Do not wring out or hang dry as both methods can distort the shape of the suit
  3. Never place the swimsuit in a dryer

Chéri House cannot accept responsibility for damage resulting from failure to follow the above care practices.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you wash a swimsuit with gold hardware? Hand wash in cold water immediately after each wear using a mild detergent. The 24K gold-dipped hardware on Chéri House swimwear is fully seawater and chlorine resistant, but rinsing promptly after exposure extends its life significantly. Avoid abrasive detergents and never place gold-hardware swimwear in a dryer.

How do you wash a swimsuit with Xtra Life Lycra? Xtra Life Lycra swimwear should always be hand washed in cold water with a mild detergent. The fabric is engineered to retain its shape and color through repeated wear, but machine washing and high heat will degrade the fibers over time. Hand washing and flat drying preserve the stretch and recovery of the fabric indefinitely.

Can you put a swimsuit in the washing machine? Hand washing is always preferred for luxury swimwear. If a washing machine is necessary, place the swimsuit in a mesh garment bag and use a cold, delicate cycle. Never use a standard cycle or warm water setting on a swimsuit with hardware or Lycra fabric.

How do you dry a swimsuit without stretching it? Lay the swimsuit flat on a dry towel away from direct sunlight. Never wring out, hang dry, or machine dry a swimsuit. Hanging causes the weight of the water to stretch the fabric out of shape. Flat drying preserves the silhouette and extends the life of the suit.

How long should a luxury swimsuit last? With proper care, a high-quality swimsuit made with Xtra Life Lycra and seawater-resistant hardware can last for many years of regular wear. Chéri House swimwear is designed and produced to be a long-term investment piece, not a seasonal purchase.

What detergent is best for washing swimwear? A mild, gentle detergent is best for luxury swimwear. Chéri House recommends The Laundress Delicate Wash, which is specifically formulated for fine fabrics and will not degrade Lycra fibers or affect hardware finish.

How do you care for a monokini? Care for a monokini the same way you would any fine swimwear. Hand wash in cold water after each wear, lay flat to dry away from sunlight, and store flat or loosely folded. For monokinis with tie closures, loosely tie the straps before storing to prevent tangling.
